Tag question āĻ—āĻ āĻŖে Auxiliary verb āĻŦ্āĻ¯āĻŦāĻšৃāĻ¤ āĻšā§Ÿ।  Negative Tag question-āĻ Auxiliary verb āĻ—ুāĻ˛োāĻ° āĻ¸ংāĻ•্āĻˇিāĻĒ্āĻ¤ āĻ°ূāĻĒ āĻŦ্āĻ¯āĻŦāĻšৃāĻ¤ āĻšā§Ÿ। āĻ¯েāĻŽāĻ¨ঃ

  • am + not = aren’t/ain’t
  • is + not = isn’t
  • are + not = aren’t
  • do + not = don’t
  • does + not = doesn’t
  • did + not = didn’t
  • was + not = wasn’t
  • were + not = weren’t
  • shall + not = shan’t
  • would + not = wouldn’t
  • should + not = shouldn’t
  • could + not = couldn’t
  • may + not = mayn’t
  • might + not = mightn’t
  • had + not = hadn’t
  • must + not = mustn’t
  • need + not = needn’t
  • ought + not = oughtn’t

Example: He must do this, mustn’t he?

Positive Statement: She knows you, Negative Tag: doesn’t he?

Negative Statement: She does not know you, Positive Tag: does she?

Tag Question āĻāĻ° āĻ¸āĻ•āĻ˛ āĻ¸āĻšāĻœ āĻ¨িā§ŸāĻŽ

1. Primary Auxiliary verb do, does, did, am, is, are, was, were, have, has, had āĻ¯োāĻ—ে āĻ—āĻ িāĻ¤ āĻ•িāĻ›ু Tag Question āĻ¨িāĻŽ্āĻ¨ে āĻ†āĻ˛োāĻšāĻ¨া āĻ•āĻ°া āĻšāĻ˛ঃ

  1. How beautiful the picture is, isn’t it?
  2. How nicely the bird sings, doesn’t it?


3.  Model Auxiliary Verb (may, dare, might, can, could, shall, should, will, would, must, need etc.) āĻ¯োāĻ—ে āĻ—āĻ িāĻ¤ Tag Question:

  1. We may fail at first, mayn’t we?
  2. You must have heard the name of  Jalaluddin Rumi, mustn’t you?
  3. None could prosper in life without utilizing time, could he?
  4. I shall do that, shan’t I?

7.  Imperative Statement āĻāĻ° āĻŽাāĻ§্āĻ¯āĻŽে āĻ¯āĻĻি āĻ•োāĻ¨ advice āĻŦা order āĻŦুāĻাā§Ÿ āĻ¸েāĻ•্āĻˇেāĻ¤্āĻ°ে Tag āĻšিāĻ¸াāĻŦে will you/won’t you āĻŦ্āĻ¯āĻŦāĻšৃāĻ¤ āĻšā§Ÿ। Request āĻŦুāĻাāĻ˛ে can you/could you āĻŦ্āĻ¯āĻŦāĻšৃāĻ¤ āĻšā§Ÿ।

  1. Do not go there, will you?
  2. Open the door, will you?
  3. Do not tell a lie, will you?

NOTE: won’t you āĻŦ্āĻ¯āĻŦāĻšাāĻ° āĻ¨া āĻ•āĻ°াā§Ÿ āĻ­াāĻ˛।

  1. There is something wrong with him, isn’t there?
  2. There are three big rooms in our school library, aren’t there?

11.  It is/ It was/ It has āĻĻ্āĻŦাāĻ°া āĻ¸ূāĻšিāĻ¤ Statement-āĻāĻ° āĻ•্āĻˇেāĻ¤্āĻ°ে Tag Question āĻšিāĻ¸াāĻŦে is it/ isn’t it, was it/wasn’t i, has it/hasn’t it āĻŦāĻ¸ে।

  1. Yes, it is our duty to study in a disciplined way, isn’t it?
  2. It is fairly a recent invention, isn’t it?

12.  Complex Sentence-āĻ Principal Clause-āĻāĻ° Subject āĻ“ verb āĻ…āĻ¨ুāĻ¯াā§Ÿী Tag Question āĻ—āĻ āĻ¨ āĻ•āĻ°āĻ¤ে āĻšā§Ÿ।


  1. If you come, I will go, won’t I?
