 Important proverbs for HSC & SSC!

Proverbs মানে “প্রবাদ বাক্য” । এগুলো যেভাবে প্রচলিত সেভাবেই লিখতে হয় । নিচে পরীক্ষায় আসার মত কিছু প্রবাদ বাক্য অর্থসহ দেয়া হল ।  

1.  As you sow, so you reap.  (যেমন কর্ম, তেমন ফল)

2.  United we stand; divided we fall. (একতাই শক্তি)

3.  Danger comes where it is feared.

(ভয় করলে বিপদ আপনিই এসে পরে)

4.  Strike the iron while it is hot. (ঝোপ বুঝে কোপ মার)

5.  A man is known by the company he keeps.

(সঙ্গ দেখে মানুষ চেনা যায়)

6.  Where there is hope, there is life. (আশাই জীবন)

7.  All that glitters is not gold. (চকচক করলেই সোনা হয় না)

8.  Where there is a will, there is a way.

(ইচ্ছা থাকলে উপায় হয়)

9.  What is lotted cannot be blotted. (ভাগ্যের লিখন না যায় খণ্ডন)

10.       Empty vessels sound much. (খালি কলসি বাজে বেশি)

 

11.       We should be satisfied with what we have.

(আমাদের যা আছে তাই নিয়ে সন্তুষ্ট থাকা উচিত)

12.       God helps those who help themselves.

(ঈশ্বর তাদের সাহায্য করেন যারা নিজেদের সাহায্য করে)

13.       The more you read, the more you learn.

(যত বেশি পড়বে, তত বেশি শিখবে)

14.       A drowning man catches at a straw.

যতক্ষণ শ্বাস, ততক্ষণ আঁশ।

15.     A stitch in time saves nine.

(সময়ের এক ফোঁড়, অসময়ের দশ ফোঁড়)

16.     Faults are thick where love is thin.

(যাকে দেখতে নারি, তার চলন বাঁকা)

17.     Fools rush in where angels fear to tread.

(হাতি ঘোড়া গেল তল, পিঁপড়া বলে কত তল)  

18.     After meat comes  mustard

(নুন আনতে পান্তা ফুরায়)

19.     The wearer best knows where the shoe pinches.

(যার জ্বালা সে-ই জানে)

20.     A child who burns its hand dreads the fire.

(ঘর পোড়া গরু সিঁদুরে মেঘ দেখলে ডরায়)

21.  Self help is the best help.

( স্বাবলম্বনই শ্রেষ্ঠ অবলম্বন)

22. A beggar has nothing to lose. ন্যাংটার নেই বাট পারের ভয়

23.  Many men, many minds. নানামুনীর নানা মত

24. Black will take no other hue. কয়লা ধুলে ময়লা যায় না।

25. Let bygones be bygones.

গতস্য শোচনা নাস্তি; অতীত নিয়ে দুঃখ করে লাভ নেই । 

26. All is well that ends well 

শেষ ভালো যার সব ভাল তার।

27. Money begets money 

টাকায় টাকা আনে।

28. অতি লোভে তাঁতি নষ্ট

Grasp all, lose all.

29. A bad workman quarrels with his tools. নাচতে না জানলে উঠোন বাঁকা।

30. A bolt from the blue. বিনা মেঘে বজ্রপাত।

31. Out of sight, out of mind চোখের আড়াল হলেই মনের আড়াল হয়। 

32. মিষ্টি কথায় চিড়ে ভিজে না।
