Tough voice change

 How to convert passive voice of interrogative with Wh-words: 

1. Starting in Who:

By whom + helping verb + Object will be subject + past participle?


Active – Who needs a bi-cycle?

Passive – By whom is a bi-cycle needed?


Active – Who doesn’t play chess?

Passive – By whom is chess not played?


Active – Who is singing songs?

Passive – By whom are songs being sung?


Active – Who are making noise?

Passive – By whom is noise being made?


Active – Who are not joining us?

Passive – By whom are we not being joined?


Active – Who are not playing cricket?

Passive – By whom is cricket not being played?


Active – Who has broken the glass?

Passive – By whom has the glass been broken?


Active – Who has performed the character of Macbeth?

Passive – By whom has the character of Macbeth been performed?


Active – Who have not submitted the project yet?

Passive – By whom has the project not been submitted yet?


Active – Who will keep the money?

Passive – By whom will the money be kept?


Active – Who will not take notes?

Passive – By whom will notes not be taken?


Active – Who will be composing the mails?

Passive – By whom will the mails be being composed?


Active – Who will not be driving the car?

Passive – By whom will the car not be being driven?


Active – Who cuts the wire?

Passive – By whom is the wire cut?


2. Starting in Whom :

By whom + helping verb + Object will be subject + past participle?


Who + helping verb + past participle + by + subject will be object?


Active – Whom do you read?

Passive – Who is read by you?


Active – Whom doesn’t he love?

Passive – Who is not loved by him?


Active – Whom is John inviting?

Passive – Who is being invited by John?


Active – Whom are they teaching?

Passive – Who are being taught by them?


Active – Whom is not she requesting for a job?

Passive – Who are not being requested by her for a job? / Who are not being requested for a job by her?


Active – Whom have you cheated?

Passive – Who has been cheated by you?


Active – Whom haven’t you given the money?

Passive – Who hasn’t been given the money by you?


Active – Whom has she encouraged?

Passive – Who has been encouraged by her?


Active – Whom hasn’t she called?

Passive – Who hasn’t been called by her?


Active – Whom will she like?

Passive – Who will be liked by her?


Active – Whom will not they select?

Passive – Who will not be selected by them?


Active – Whom shall we allow in our party?

Passive – Who shall be allowed (by us) in our party?


Active – Whom will not he tell the story?

Passive – Who will not be told the story by him?


Active – Whom shall we be calling?

Passive – Who will be being called by us?


Active – Whom will you be scolding?

Passive – Who will be being scolded by you?


3. Rules for other Wh-words:

Wh-word + helping verb + past participle + subject will be object ?


Active – What are they doing?

Passive – What is being done by them?


Active – When is not he drinking milk?

Passive – When is milk not being drunk by him?


Active – When did you send him?

Passive – When was he sent by you?


Active – Why do you read books?

Passive – Why are books read by you?

Active – Why didn’t they spread the rumour?

Passive – Why wasn’t the rumour spread (by them)?


Active – Where have you made that silly mistake?

Passive – Where has that silly mistake been made by you?


Active – How did you send him?

Passive – How was he sent by you?

      Exceptional

He kept me waiting.

= I was kept waiting by him.

He let me go.

= I was let go by him.

He shocked me.

= I was shocked at him.

I am going to buy some pens.

= Some pens are going to be bought by me.

She has to solve the problems.

= The problems have to be solved by her.
