নেংটার নেই বাটপারের ভয়।

A beggar has nothing to lose.

ক্ষমা কর ও ভুলে যাও ।

Forgive and forget.

সময় এবং নদীর স্রোত কারো জন্য অপেক্ষা করে না। Time and tide wait for none.

বিনা মেঘে বজ্রপাত 

A bolt from the blue.

চোর পালালে বুদ্ধি বাড়ে।

After meat comes the mustard.

ছেড়ে দে মা কেঁদে বাঁচি।

Don't nag me, and leave me in peace.

অসময়ের বন্ধুই প্রকৃত বন্ধু

A friend in need is a friend indeed.

যেমন কর্ম, তেমন ফল।

As you sow, so you reap.

টাকায় টাকা আনে।

Money begets money.

ভাবিয়া  করিও কাজ, করিয়া ভাবিও না

Look before you leap.

আয় বুঝে ব্যয় করো

Cut your coat according to your cloth.

কাটা ঘায়ে নুনের ছিটে ।

To add insult to injury.

নিজের পায়ে নিজে কুড়াল মারা।

To dig one’s own grave.

সবুরে মেওয়া ফলে/ ধৈর্য্য ধরা কষ্টের কিন্তু এর ফল মিষ্টি Patience is bitter but its fruitis is sweet

সঙ্গদোষে লোহা ভাসে

 A man is known by the company he keeps

গাছে কাঁঠাল গোঁফে তেল ।

Don’t count your chickens before they are hatched .

বিন্দু বিন্দু জলে সিন্ধু হয়

রাই কুড়িয়ে বেল।

Drops of water make ocean.

বলা সহজ, করা কঠিন ।

It is easy to say but difficult to do.

সময়ে একফোড়, অসময়ে দশফোড়

A stitch in time saves nine. 

অসারের তর্জন গর্জনই সার; অল্প জলে পুঁটিমাছ ফরফর করে; বর্ষন নেই গর্জন সার।

Empty vessels sound much.

নিজের (আপনার) ভালো পাগলও বোঝে।

Even a fool knows his business.

দেওয়ালেরও কান আছে।

Even walls have ears.

দুঃখের পরে আসে সুখ ।

Every cloud has silver shining .

আপন গাঁয়ে কুকুর রাজা

বন গাঁয়ে শিয়াল রাজা।

A dog is a lion is his lane.

টাকায় সকলে বশ হয় ।

Every man has his price .

Anybody can be convinced by a certain amount of money more or less.

চাচা আপন প্রাণ বাঁচা।

Every man is for himself.

নিজের জিনিস সকলেই ভাল দেখে।

Everyone thinks his own geese swans.

অনভ্যাসের ফোঁটায় কপাল চড়চড় করে

Every shoe fits not every foot .

পাপ ছাড়ে না বাপকে ।

Sinners cannot go unpunished.

উপদেশের চেয়ে দৃষ্টান্ত ভালো।

Example is better than precept.

অভিজ্ঞতাই সর্বোত্তম শিক্ষক।

Experience is the best teacher.

ঠেকে শেখা আর দেখে শেখা।

Experience teaches better than wisdom.

ডোল ভরা আশা আর কুলো ভরা ছাই।

Extravagant hopes lead to complete disappointment.

ব্যর্থতাই সাফল্যের স্তম্ভস্বরূপ।

Failure is the pillar of success.

বিশ্বাস পাহাড়কেও টলায় ।

Faith will move mountains.

মিষ্টি কথায় চিড়ে ভিজে না।

Fine words butter no parsnips.

আগে আসলে আগে পাবে ।

First come, first served .

প্রথমে উপযুক্ত হও, তারপর আকাঙ্খা কর ।

First deserve then desire .

Be qualified before you hope to get anything.

গাঁয়ে মানে না আপনি মোড়ল।

Fool to others to himself a sage.

বোকারা অনেক দেরিতে বোঝে।

Fools of yesterday are the wise men of today.

মূর্খই মূর্খের কদর করে ।

Fools praise fools .

হাতি ঘোড়া গেল তল, পিপড়া বলে কত জল।

Fools rush in where angels fear to tread.

ক্ষমা পরম ধর্ম 

Forgiveness is a great virtue.

ভাগ্যবানের বোঝা ভগবানে বয়।

Fortune favours the brave.

পরিশ্রমীদের প্রতি ভাগ্য সুপ্রসন্ন ।

Fortune favors the industrious .

লক্ষ্মী চঞ্চলা।

Fortune is fickle .

Riches have wings.

অধিকতর খারাপ অবস্থায় পড়া।।

From the frying pan to the fire.

কাজের সময় কাজী, কাজ ফুরালে পাজী।

Get rid of one who has served the purpose.

বানরকে লাই দিলে মাথায় ওঠে।

Give him an inch and he will take an ell.

যার যা প্রাপ্য তাকে তা দাও ; শয়তানকেও তার ন্যায্য পাওনা দেবে।

Give the devil his due.

কান টানলে মাথা আসে ।

Give the one, the other will follow .

পরিশ্রমীদের আল্লাহ সাহায্য করেন।

God helps them who help themselves.

মুখ দিয়েছেন যিনি, আহার দিবেন তিনি।

God never sends mouths, but He sends meat.

খোশ খবরের মিথ্যাও ভাল।

Good news is good, if it is proved false.

চেনা বামুনের পৈতা লাগে না।

A known man needs no recommendation.

দূরের জিনিস ভালো দেখায় ।

Grass in always greener on the other side of the fence .

আপনার চরকায় তেল দাও ।

Mind your own business.

মহৎ লোকেরা এ রকম চিন্তা করেন ।

Great minds think alike .

মুখে বুলি লম্বা, কাজে অষ্টরম্ভা।

Great talkers are little doers .

Empty vessels sound much

কুকুরের পেটে ঘি সয় না

ঢেঁকি স্বর্গে গেলেও ধান ভানে।

কয়লা ধুলে ময়লা যায় না।

Habit is the second nature.

Black will take no other hue.

নাই মামার চেয়ে কানা মামা ভাল।

Half a loaf is better than no loaf.

Something is better than nothing.

যে হাতে দোলনা দোলায়, সে হাত পৃথিবী চালায় ।

Hand that rocks the cradle rules the world.

রূপে কালো গুণে আলো।

Handsome is that handsome does.

A man's action is more important rather than his appearance.

জাতের মেয়ে কালো ভালো নদীর পানি ঘোলা ভালো ।

Handsome is what handsome does .

পরের মন্দ করতে গেলে আপনার মন্দ আগে হয় ।

ভয় করলে ভয় আপনি এসে পড়ে ।

Harm watch, harm catch.

তাড়াতাড়ি কোন কাজ ভালো হয় না।

Haste makes waste.

নুন আনতে পান্তা ফুরায়।

He can hardly keep the wolf from the door.

তার একটু মাথায় ছিট আছে।

He is a bit crazy or eccentric.

সে কচি খোকা নয়।

He is no chicken.

শেষ ভালো যার সব ভালো তার ।

All’s well that ends well.

যে টাকা দেয় তার ইচ্ছাতেই কর্ম হয়।

He who pays the piper calls the tune.

ভাজা মাছটি উলটে খেতে জানে না।

He poses to be quite simple and innocent.

চক চক করলেই সোনা হয় না ।

Don’t judge a book by its cover .

All that glitters is not gold.

ইট মারলে পাটকেলটি খেতে হয়।

Tit for tat.

পরিশ্রম সৌভাগ্যের প্রসূতি

Industry is the mother of good luck.

ইচ্ছা থাকলে উপায় হয়।

Where there is a will, there is a way.

একতাই বল।

Unity is strength.

অধ্যাবসায় সফলতার চাবিকাঠি

Perseverance is the key to success.

অধিক মাখামাখিতে মান নষ্ট।

Familiarity breeds contempt.

ভাগ্যের (কপালের) লেখন, না যায় খণ্ডন। 

Fate cannot be resisted.

ভাগ্যং ফলিত সর্বত্র ।

Fate rules everywhere .

যারে দেখতে নারি, তার চলন বাঁকা ।

Faults are thick where love is thin .

ভয়ে গায়ের রক্ত শুকিয়ে যায়।

Fear makes the blood curdle.

ঘরের শত্রু বিভীষণ।

A disguised enemy in one’s own house.

জীবে প্রেম করে যেইজন, সেইজন সেবিছে ঈশ্বর ।

He prayeth best who loveth best.

সাপ হয়ে কাটে, আর ওঝা হয়ে ঝাড়ে ; বরের ঘরের পিসী, কনের ঘরের মাসী।

He runs with the hare and hunts with the hounds.

কুটো চুরি করতে করতেই কুলো চোর হয়।

He that will steal an egg will steal an ox.

মেয়েকে জয় করতে হলে আগে তার মাকে খুশী কর।

To marry a woman one needs to impress her mother first.

অনেক কাজ একসাথে শুরু করলে কোনটাই ভালো হয় না।

He who begins many things, finishes but few.

দুই নৌকায় পা দিলে কোনটাতেই ওঠা যায় না।

He who follows two hares catches neither .

আপনি শুতে ঠাঁই পায় না, শষঙ্করাকে ডাকে।

A beggar must not make room for his companion

অদৃষ্টে করলা ভাতে, বিচি কচকচ করে তাতে।

He who is born in misfortune stumbles as he goes.

আকাশের দিকে থুথু ফেললে আপন গায়েই লাগে ।

He who spits against the wind spits against his own face .

দশের লাঠি একের বোঝা।

= Many a little makes a mickle.

কারও পৌষ মাস, কারও সর্বনাশ ।

= One’s harvest month, is another’s complete devastation.

বিপদ কখনও একা আসে না।

= Misfortune never comes alone.

এক মাঘে শীত যায় না

= One swallow does not make a summer.

মন্ত্রের সাধন কিংব শরীর পতন।

= Do or die.

বাপ কা বেটা

= Like father, like son.

এক হাতে তালি বাজে না

= It takes two to make a quarrel.

সে হাড়ে হাড়ে দুষ্ট

= He is wicked to the backbone.

ভাই ভাই ঠাঁই ঠাঁই

= Brothers will part.

চোখের আড়াল হলেই মনের আড়াল হয়। Out of sight, out of mind.

গাইতে গাইতে গায়েন ‌।

Practice makes a man perfect.

অতি ভক্তি চোরের লক্ষণ

= Too much courtesy, too much craft.

 অভাবে স্বভাব নষ্ট

= Necessity knows no law

অতি দর্পে হত লংকা।

= Pride goes before its fall.

অপচয় করো না, অভাবও হবে না।

= Waste not, want not.

অতি লোভে তাঁতি নষ্ট

Grasp all, lose well.

কষ্ট বিনা কেষ্ট মেলে না।

No pains, no gains.

জোর যার মুল্লুক তার

Might is right.

অসির চেয়ে মসি বড়

The pen is mightier than the sword. 

❤️❤️খাতায় লিখে রাখো, কাজে লাগবে- Hard labour does not fall in vain. The more you read,  the more you learn. Note down the proverbs and memorize them. They will help you much. Thanks for your patience.
