Step 01: Grammatical Chapters for Admission Exam

ধাপঃ ০১ -নির্বাচিত ব্যাকরণের অধ্যায় সমূহ প্রস্তুত করা

Most of the students get confused of the proper selections of English grammatical chapters especially in case of English part in university admission tests. So, I assure you that you should learn the rules of the grammatical chapters enlisted here. This includes those grammatical chapters from which you will get all most all questions in your exams.

So, try to cover all of these listed grammatical chapters properly to be confident and to achieve the highest marks in your upcoming university admission tests.

The grammatical lessons are listed below:

• Noun: You will get questions on singular and plural forms of nouns including countable nouns and uncountable nouns. You will get more than 2 questions from this part. So, try to memorize the noun words particularly singular and plural with their different meanings and usages.

• Usages of Pronouns: Here, you will get gaps from this section in which you have to put right forms of verbs according to the pronoun subject. You will get 1 question from this topic.

• Usages of Adjectives: In this part, you must memorize the meaning of adjective words and different characteristics of them.

• Usages of Adverbs: Notice the position of adverb words in sentences.

• Differences between Adjective & Adverb: Some words are used sometimes as adjective or adverb in different cases. So, learn those usages.

• Structure of Phrases & Clauses: You have to choose the types of phrases or clauses from sentences in this item. This is optional part for questiontions.
  

• Tense marker Words & Phrases: Here, you may get translation option or right forms of verbs. To answer questions on this section properly, you need to have clear idea on All tenses in English.

• Usages of Causative Verbs: Learn the differences of all causative verbs and the definite form of verbs which are used in them. You will get gaps on forms of verbs here. You will get 1 question from this section.

• Structures of Conditional Sentences: In this item, you must remember the different structures of different classes. You will get 1 question from this section.

• Transformation of Sentences: It’s the most complex and larger section in English grammar. Here, you have to transform sentences as directed on question or you have to choose the right transformed sentence according to the direction. So, you must memorize all the rules of transformation. You will get more than 3 questions from this section.

The areas of transportation of sentences, you have to cover are:

• Rules of Affirmative to Negative
• Rules of Assertive to Interrogative
• Rules of Assertive to Imperative
• Rules of Assertive to Exclamatory
• Rules of Degree Changing (positive-comparative-superlative)
• Rules of voice change (Active to Passive)
• Rules of Changing Simple to Complex to Compound

• Agreement of Affirmative & Negative: This item is completely new to the students. So, learn the peculiar usages of this lesson. This is optional part for question.

• Differences Among Infinitive, Participles, & Gerund: You have to memorize some particular words in this item and the right form of verbs of different options.

• Illogical Participle Modifiers: Here, you will get choosing option and you have to choose right sentence which is logical. This is optional part for question.

• Parallelism: It is all about maintaining balance of several words in a sentence. This is optional part for question.

• Changing Rules of Narration (Direct to Indirect): You have to select right direct speech or indirect speech from four options on behalf of the given speech in the question.

• Rules of Subject-Verb Agreement: Memorize all the rules and correct forms of verbs according to the forms of subject.

• Usages of Conjunctions: You must remember the meaning of conjunction words and the usages of them in connecting sentences.

• Usages of Preposition & Appropriate Prepositions: This is the option from which you will get more than 3 questions. Firstly, study the normal usages of preposition words. Besides, you must memorize all the appropriate prepositions.

• Correction of Sentences: This item is based on all the grammatical topics. And you will get about 2 questions from this lesson.
• Pin Pointing Errors: You have to find out the part in a sentence that is wrong and you may get 1 question from this item. It is also based on all the grammatical topics you have studied.
• Phrasal Verbs or Group Verbs: Like appropriate preposition, you have to memorize the different phrasal verbs. This will give you more clear idea of the usages of prepositions. This is optional part for question.
• Spelling: It is the item that will make you most confused. You will get about 2 questions from this item.
• Idioms & Phrases: Learn the most popular phrases from here. You have to find out the right meaning of a phrase or idioms in a sentence. This is optional part for question.
• Analogy: For this section, you must have a great stock of vocabulary. You have to find out the relationship between two groups of words here.
• Synonyms & Antonyms: Most of the students get less number for this part. You have to study a dictionary on synonyms and and antonyms for doing better in this part. Most importantly, you will get more than 3 questions from this section.
• Usages of Modal-Auxiliary Verbs: Right forms of verb will be set as a question item from this lesson. This is optional part for question.
• Subjunctives: Here, you have to memorize some words which has different rules in case of using in a sentence. This is an optional item.
• Word Formations (Noun-Verb-Adjective-Adverb): From this topic, you must get more than 3 questions and here, you have to choose the right form of the part of speeches as directed in the question.

Step 02: Practicing Questions of Previous Exams

ধাপঃ ০২- বিগত বছরের প্রশ্ন উত্তর সুমুহ অনুশীলন করা

Every year more than 30% questions are repeated from the questions of previous years. So, if you want to get common items in exam, you have to study the questions of admission exams of previous years under Dhaka University, Buet, Ruet, CUET, DUET, and other public universities. Besides, for better output, you may study the questions of BCS exams and job exams of various public organizations.

প্রতি বছর ৩০% এর বেশি প্রশ্ন বিগত বছর হতে পুনরাবৃত্তি করা হয়ে থাকে। সুতুরাং যদি তুমি তোমার ভর্তি পরীক্ষায় প্রশ্ন কমন পেতে চাও তবে তোমাকে অবশ্যই বিগত বছরের বিভিন্ন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ভর্তি পরীক্ষার প্রশ্ন অনুশীলন করতে হবে। এক্ষেত্রে তুমি বি.সি.এস সহ অন্যান্য সরকারী চাকুরীর পরীক্ষার প্রশ্ন উত্তর অনুশীলন করতে পারো।

Step 03: Reading English Newspapers

ধাপঃ ০৩- ইংরেজি সংবাদপত্র পড়া

The last part of your preparation strategy is reading English daily newspaper. You must read the top daily newspaper The Daily Star’, The Observer, Readers Digest for better performance. Because, the language and structure pattern of this newspaper is the best and most standard among all other newspapers. You must read the newspaper regularly and study the unknown or new word from there.

Besides, you have to notice the sentence structures from there. Remember, newspaper uses always updated English. So, by reading newspaper, you may be confident that your competence of language is updated and enriched.

তোমার প্রস্তুতির শেষ ধাপ হল নিয়মিত ইংরেজি খবরের কাগজ পড়া। এক্ষেত্রে তুমি ‘দৈনিক ডেইলি স্টার’ পড়তে পারো কারন বাংলাদেশে যত ইংরেজি পত্রিকা রয়েছে তার মধ্যে এটির লেখা এবং বাক্য গঠন সবচেয়ে বেশি আধুনিক এবং উন্নত। পড়ার সময় নতুন শব্দগুলো এবং বাক্যের গঠনগুলো লক্ষ্য করো এবং অনুশীলন করো।

• Study the question patterns from the language books both from ‘Cliffs’ and Barron's TOEFL
• বিভিন্ন প্রশ্নের রূপ এবং গঠনের জন্য ‘Cliffs’ বা Barron’s এর TOEFL বই দুটি অনুসরণ করতে পারো।
