WH-Questions

1. What (হোয়াট) = কী / কী জিনিস

Use: Thing, Action, Idea, Name, Occupation (বস্তু, কাজ, ধারণা, নাম, পেশা)

Structure:

What + Helping Verb + Subject + Main Verb + Object?

What + Be Verb + Subject + Complement?

Examples:

What is your name?

What do you want?

What did she buy?

2. Where (হোয়্যার) = কোথায়

Use: Place, Location (স্থান)

Structure:

Where + Helping Verb + Subject + Main Verb + Object?

Where + Be Verb + Subject + Complement?

Examples:

Where do you live?

Where is my bag?

Where did they go?

3. When (হোয়েন) = কখন

Use: Time, Date (সময়)

Structure:

When + Helping Verb + Subject + Main Verb + Object?

When + Will + Subject + Main Verb?

Examples:

When do you study?

When did he arrive?

When will you come?

4. Who (হু) = কে

Use: Person (Subject) (ব্যক্তি)

Structure:

Who + Main Verb + Object?

Who + Be Verb + Complement?

Examples:

Who teaches you?

Who is your friend?

Who called you?

5. Whom (হুম) = কাকে

Use: Person (Object) (ব্যক্তি - কর্ম)

Structure:

Whom + Helping Verb + Subject + Main Verb?

Examples:

Whom did you meet?

Whom are you calling?

6. Whose (হুজ) = কার

Use: Possession, Ownership (মালিকানা)

Structure:

Whose + Noun + Be Verb + Subject?

Whose + Noun + Helping Verb + Subject + Main Verb?

Examples:

Whose book is this?

Whose pen did you borrow?

7. Which (হুইচ) = কোনটি

Use: Choice (সীমিত বিকল্পের মধ্যে নির্বাচন)

Structure:

Which + Noun + Helping Verb + Subject + Main Verb?

Which + Noun + Be Verb + Subject?

Examples:

Which colour is your favourite?

8. Why (হোয়াই) = কেন

Use: Reason, Cause (কারণ)

Structure:

Why + Helping Verb + Subject + Main Verb?

Why + Be Verb + Subject + Complement?

Examples:

9. How (হাউ) = কীভাবে / কেমন

Use: Manner, Condition, Method (পদ্ধতি, অবস্থা)

Structure:

How + Helping Verb + Subject + Main Verb?

How many = Number (Countable) (কয়টি)

How much = Quantity/Price (Uncountable) (কত/কত টাকা)

How long = Duration/Length (কতক্ষণ/কত দীর্ঘ)

How far = Distance (কত দূর)

How often = Frequency (কতবার)

How soon = Time remaining (আর কত তাড়াতাড়ি)

How fast = Speed (কত দ্রুত)

How tall = Height (Person) (কত লম্বা)

How high = Height (Object/Place) (কত উঁচু)

How deep = Depth (কত গভীর)

How wide = Width (কত চওড়া)

How heavy = Weight (কত ভারী)

How big = Size (কত বড়)
