Narration of exclamatory Sentences
A sentence that expresses a state of joy, sorrow or wonder is called exclamatory sentence. An exclamation mark is used at the end of the sentence.
1. Hurrah! I have won the competition. ( State of joy)
2. Alas! He failed in the examination. ( State of sorrow)
3. Wow! What a nice bird! ( state of wonder)

đ inverted comma āĻāĻ° āĻĒāĻ°িāĻŦāĻ°্āĻ¤ে that + Subject of reported speech will follow + tense will be changed according to rules + very/ great ( if reported speech starts with what or how then what or how will be omitted and very/ great will be used) + extension
Note: 1. if there are exclamatory words in reported speech like Alas, Hurrah, Bravo, wow, oh, ah, fie..., they will be omitted.
2. In case of nonsense, fool, stupid, idiot " great " is used instead of what and how.

What or How - Exclaimed with Surprise or wonder
Bravo - applauded + obj + saying that
Oh, Ah, Oh Dear - Exclaimed with sorrow
ugh - Exclaimed with disgust
Good Heavens - Exclaimed with Horror etc.
Rule 2 - Inverted Commas converted in to that
The boy said, " Alas! I am undone!"
The boy exclaimed with sorrow that he was undone.
Rule 3 - Interjections like Hurrah, Alas are removed and the rest of the sentence is changed as per Simple Sentence Rule.
Q - He said ," Hurrah ! I have won the race"
A - He exclaimed with joy that he had won the race.
Q - She said " How brilliant you are ! "
A - She exclaimed with wonder that I was very brilliant.
Q - I said ," What a beautiful building it is ! "
A - I exclaimed with wonder that it was a very beautiful building.
In the sentences in which there is the element of surprise of wonder, we must use the adverb very.
Q - The captain said," Bravo ! You have done a wonderful job, my boys."
A - The captain applauded the boys saying that they had done a wonderful job.
