King Midas

 

 Once upon a time there was a king. His name was Midas. The king was very greedy. He was very much fond of gold. Although he had a lot of it, he wanted more. He thought if he had the golden touch he would be the happiest man in the world. He always thought it and wanted gold. Even he prayed to gods to fulfill his desire. At last a wise god granted his prayer.

At last a wise god granted his prayer.

One day the king was walking in his apple garden. Suddenly, a ripe apple fell from the apple tree. He wanted to pick it up. No sooner had he touched it than the apple turned into gold. From the garden he came to his palace. When he entered his palace, his little daughter ran up to him.

The king took her in his arms. Instantly she turned into gold. The king became upset and prayed to be free from the boon of the god. The wise god accepted his prayer and took the golden touch boon from him. The daughter of the king turned into normal being again. The king realized that too much greediness destroys everything.

রাজা মিডাস এবং স্বর্ণস্পর্শ

অনুবাদ: এক সময় এক রাজা ছিলেন। তার নাম ছিল মিডাস। রাজা খুব লোভী ছিলেন। তিনি স্বর্ণ খুব পছন্দ করতেন। যদিও তার অনেক কিছু ছিল, সে আরও চাইতেন। সে ভেবেছিল সোনালি স্পর্শ পেলে সে হবে পৃথিবীর সবচেয়ে সুখী মানুষ। তিনি সর্বদা এটি ভাবতেন এবং সোনা চাইতেন। এমনকি তিনি তার ইচ্ছা পূরণের জন্য দেবতাদের কাছে প্রার্থনা করেছিলেন। অবশেষে একজন জ্ঞানী ঈশ্বর তার প্রার্থনা মঞ্জুর করলেন।

একদিন রাজা তার আপেল বাগানে হাঁটছিলেন। হঠাৎ আপেল গাছ থেকে একটা পাকা আপেল পড়ে গেল। তিনি এটা নিতে চেয়েছিলেন. ছুঁয়ে দিলেই আপেল সোনায় পরিণত হয়। বাগান থেকে সে তার প্রাসাদে এল। যখন তিনি তার প্রাসাদে প্রবেশ করলেন, তার ছোট মেয়েটি তার কাছে ছুটে এল। রাজা তাকে কোলে তুলে নিলেন। সঙ্গে সঙ্গে সে সোনায় পরিণত হয়। রাজা বিরক্ত হয়ে দেবতার বর থেকে মুক্ত হতে প্রার্থনা করলেন। জ্ঞানী দেবতা তার প্রার্থনা কবুল করেন এবং তার কাছ থেকে সোনার স্পর্শ বর নেন। রাজার কন্যা আবার স্বাভাবিক হয়ে উঠলেন। রাজা বুঝতে পারলেন যে অতিরিক্ত লোভ সবকিছুকে ধ্বংস করে দেয়।
