Connectors list

 Sentence connectors/ Sentence linkers:

āĻ¯েāĻ¸āĻŦ word āĻŦা phrase. linkers āĻšিāĻ¸েāĻŦে āĻŦ্āĻ¯āĻŦāĻšৃāĻ¤ āĻšāĻ¯় āĻ¸েāĻ—ুāĻ˛ো āĻšāĻ˛ো :


1. Sub-ordinating conjunction : that, so that, in order that, it, whether, though, althouh, since, as, in order to etc.


2. Co-ordinating conjunction : and, but, or, therefore, as well as, as soon as, both, and, yet, still, either..or, neither.. nor, so, otherwise, while, whereas, not only...but also, both...and, so...that, no sooner... that etc.


Rule-1: āĻ•োāĻ¨ো āĻŦāĻ°্āĻŖāĻ¨াāĻ° āĻ§াāĻ°াāĻŦাāĻšিāĻ•āĻ¤া āĻŦা āĻ˜āĻŸāĻ¨াāĻ•্āĻ°āĻŽ āĻŦোāĻাāĻ¤ে āĻ¸াāĻ§াāĻ°āĻŖāĻ¤ āĻ¯েāĻ¸āĻŦ Linkers āĻŦ্āĻ¯āĻŦāĻšৃāĻ¤ āĻšāĻ¯়-

* At first , firstly, in the first place, at the beginning...

* Secondly, thrid, thirdly,... finally.

* At last, lastly, in the end, to conclude...finally.

* next, after that, then, afterword... āĻ‡āĻ¤্āĻ¯াāĻĻি

Example : If you want to do well in the examination, you have to certain things. At first you have to read attentively. secondly you have to memorize some important answers to question. Thirdly you have to write them after memorising finally you have to revise them frequently.


Rule-2 : āĻ¸াāĻĻৃāĻļ্āĻ¯ āĻŦা āĻŽিāĻ˛ āĻŦোāĻাāĻ¤ে āĻŦ্āĻ¯āĻŦāĻšৃāĻ¤ Linkers- similarly, in the same way, in the same manner āĻ‡āĻ¤্āĻ¯াāĻĻি।


Rul-3 : āĻŦৈāĻ¸াāĻĻৃāĻļ্āĻ¯ āĻŦা āĻ…āĻŽিāĻ˛ āĻŦোāĻাāĻ¤ে āĻŦ্āĻ¯āĻŦāĻšৃāĻ¤ linkers-on the contrary, on the other hand, instead of, in lieu of āĻ‡āĻ¤্āĻ¯াāĻĻি।


Rul-4 : āĻ•োāĻ¨ো āĻŦāĻ•্āĻ¤āĻŦ্āĻ¯েāĻ° āĻ…āĻ¤িāĻ°িāĻ•্āĻ¤ āĻ•িāĻ›ু āĻŦা āĻŦাāĻĄ়āĻ¤ি āĻ•িāĻ›ু āĻŦāĻ˛āĻ¤ে āĻŦ্āĻ¯āĻŦāĻšৃāĻ¤ linkers-in addition to, furthermore, moreover, besides āĻ‡āĻ¤্āĻ¯াāĻĻি।

Example : The paragraph and essays are different from each other. Besides there are some similarities between thaem. firstly the paragraph has a topic sentence to introduce the main idea. Secondly it has a number of sentences in the middle of develop that idea. Finally there is a concluding sentence in it to bring the main idea to a close. Similarly the essay also consists of a beginning, a middle and an end. It is therefore, obvious that the paragraph and the essay share some common features.


Ruls-5 : āĻ¯া āĻ¸্āĻŦাāĻ­াāĻŦিāĻ• āĻšāĻ“āĻ¯়া āĻ‰āĻšিāĻ¤, āĻ¤া āĻ¨া āĻŦুāĻিāĻ¯়ে āĻ…āĻ¨্āĻ¯āĻ•িāĻ›ু āĻŦোāĻাāĻ˛ে āĻŦা āĻŦিāĻĒāĻ°ীāĻ¤ āĻŦোāĻাāĻ˛ে āĻŦ্āĻ¯āĻŦāĻšৃāĻ¤ Linkers-Though, although, but inspite of, despite, nevertheless āĻ‡āĻ¤্āĻ¯াāĻĻি।


Ruhi worked very hard. Nevertheless (āĻ¤া āĻ¸āĻ¤্āĻ¤্āĻŦেāĻ“) he could not prosper in life.

Though he is poor, he is honest.

Rule-6 : āĻ•োāĻ¨ো āĻŦāĻ°্āĻŖāĻ¨াāĻ¯় āĻ‰āĻĻাāĻšāĻ°āĻŖ āĻĻিāĻ¤ে āĻšāĻ˛ে āĻ¸াāĻ§াāĻ°āĻŖāĻ¤ āĻ¨িāĻŽ্āĻ¨োāĻ•্āĻ¤ Linkers-āĻ—ুāĻ˛ো āĻŦ্āĻ¯āĻŦāĻšৃāĻ¤ āĻšāĻ¯়।

For example, for instance, such as, as for example etc.

* There are many kinds of birds in our country. Such as the dove, the magpic, the crow, the sparrow etc.


Rule-7 : āĻ•োāĻ¨ো āĻ•াāĻœ āĻŦা āĻ˜āĻŸāĻ¨াāĻ° āĻĢāĻ˛āĻļ্āĻ°ুāĻ¤ি āĻŦা āĻĢāĻ˛াāĻĢāĻ˛ āĻŦোāĻাāĻ¤ে āĻŦ্āĻ¯āĻŦāĻšৃāĻ¤ Linkers -consequently, hence, therefore, as a result, etc.

* Sumu is a hard working girl. She was very much attentive to studies and worked very hard. As a result, she cut a good figure in her SSC exam.


Rule-8 : āĻ•োāĻ¨ো āĻŦিāĻˇāĻ¯়েāĻ° āĻŦāĻ°্āĻŖāĻ¨াāĻ¯় āĻ¸āĻŽাāĻĒ্āĻ¤িāĻ¤ে āĻŦা āĻ‰āĻĒāĻ¸ংāĻšাāĻ°ে āĻ…āĻĨāĻŦা āĻ¸ংāĻ•্āĻˇেāĻĒে āĻĒ্āĻ°āĻ•াāĻļ āĻ•āĻ°āĻ¤ে āĻ•িāĻ›ু Sentence connectors- in conclusion, to conclude, in fine, in brief, in short, to sum up etc.

To conclude, I want to say that every man should take care of his health.


Rule-9 : Pronoun-āĻ—ুāĻ˛ো Sentence linkers āĻšিāĻ¸েāĻŦে āĻŦ্āĻ¯āĻŦāĻšৃāĻ¤ āĻšāĻ¯়- āĻŦ্āĻ¯āĻ•্āĻ¤ি āĻŦোāĻাāĻ¤ে Who, whose, whom; āĻŦāĻ¸্āĻ¤ু āĻ…āĻ°্āĻĨে that, what; āĻ¸āĻŽāĻ¯় āĻŦুāĻাāĻ¤ে when āĻāĻŦং āĻ¸্āĻĨাāĻ¨ āĻŦুāĻাāĻ¤ে Where āĻŦ্āĻ¯āĻŦāĻšৃāĻ¤ āĻšāĻ¯়।


Rule-10 : āĻāĻ›াāĻĄ়া āĻ•াāĻ°āĻŖ āĻŦুāĻাāĻ¤ে As/since āĻŦ্āĻ¯āĻŦāĻšৃāĻ¤ āĻšāĻ¯়। āĻ‰āĻĒāĻ°োāĻ˛্āĻ˛েāĻ–িāĻ¤ Linkers āĻ›াāĻĄ়াāĻ“ āĻ†āĻ°āĻ“ āĻ•িāĻ›ু Linking words āĻ†āĻ›ে āĻ¯া āĻļুāĻ§ু āĻ…āĻ¨ুāĻļীāĻ˛āĻ¨ āĻ•āĻ°াāĻ° āĻŽাāĻ§্āĻ¯āĻŽেāĻ‡ āĻ†āĻ¯়āĻ¤্āĻŦে āĻ†āĻ¨া āĻ¸āĻŽ্āĻ­āĻŦ।
