Narration of Assertive Sentence

 

Assertive Sentence এর Narration পরিবর্তন

Rule-1: Assertive Sentence কে Indirect Narration করার সময় ঃ

(i)  Reporting verb-say/said পরিবর্তিত হয়ে Tell/ Tells/Told হয় (যদি Object থাকে, এক্ষেত্রে Tell/Tells/ Told এর পরে to বসে না),কিন্তু যদি Object না থাকে, তবে Reporting verb টি অপরিবর্তিত থাকে +

(ii) Inverted Comma উঠে গিয়ে that বসে +

(iii)Reported Speech এর পরিবর্তিত Subject +Verb +বাকি অংশ বসে।

Examples:2. Direct   : Wasi said to Lima, “I am going to Sirajganj.”

Indirect: Wasi told Lima that he was going to Sirajganj.

3. Direct   : Sumaiya said, “I had a beautiful garden.”

Indirect: Sumaiya said that she  had a beautiful garden.

Rule-2 : “Innovative Focus on -3rd Person”-Direct Narration এ Reported Speech এর অন্তর্গত 3rd Person কখনও কখনও Indirect Narration এ First/Second Person এ পরিবর্তিত হয়। 

Examples:

1. Direct   : My tutor spoke about me, “He will stand first in the examination.”

 Indirect: My tutor spoke about me that I would stand first in the examination.

2. Direct: My mother said about you, “His behaviour is good.”

Indirect: My mother told about you that your behaviour was good.

Rule-3: Future Tense এর পরিবর্তন Conditional সাপেক্ষ। অর্থাত্ Shall/Will এর পরিবর্তে Indirect Speech এর সময় Subject এর পরে would বসিয়ে বাকী অংশ বসাতে হয়।

Examples:1.  Direct   : Shammi said to me, “I shall do it.”

Indirect: Shammi told me that she would do it.

Rule-4: Reporting verb টি যদি Present Tense বা Future Tense হয়, তবে Reported Speech এর Adverb এবং Tense এর কোন পরিবর্তন হয় না। অর্থাত্ শুধুমাত্র Reported Speech এর Person পরিবর্তন হয়।

Examples:

1. Direct   : Lima says, “I am well now.”

Indirect: Lima says that he is well now.

Rule-5: কিন্তু Reporting Verb টি Past tense হইলে Reported Speech এর Verb এর tense  পরিবর্তিত হয়।

1. Direct   : Shimu said to Nabil, “I was a student.”

Indirect: Shimu told Nabil that she had been a student.

Instruction-1: Direct Narration এ Reported Speech এ যদি “We”থাকে এবং “We” দ্বারা যদি “মানবজাতি” বুঝালে Indirect Narration এ উক্ত “We” এবং Tense অপরিবর্তিত থাকে।

Example:1. Direct   : The teacher said to the students, “We are mortal.”

Indirect: The teacher told the students that we are mortal.          

Instruction-6: “We” দ্বারা বক্তা (Speaker) এবং যাকে উদ্দেশ্য করে (Person Spoken to) উভয়কে বুঝায় অর্থাত্ Reporting verb এর Subject বা Object এর যে কোন একটি First Person (I,Me,My, We,Us,Our) হলে Indirect Narration এ উক্ত “We’’ এবং We পরিবারের Person (Us, Our, Ours) অপরিবর্তিত থাকে, কিন্তু Tense ও Adverb পরিবর্তিত হয়। এক্ষেত্রে মনে রাখতে হবে Reporting verb এর subject/object  এর যেকোন একটি  1st person বা চিরন্তন সত্য বাক্য হলে Reported speech  এর  We বা We  পরিবারবর্গের পরিবর্তন হয় না।

Examples:

1.Direct   : Riya said to me, “We should do our duty.”

Indirect: Riya told me that we should do our duty.

Instruction-7: কিন্তু Reporting verb এর Subject বা Object হিসাবে First Person ভিন্ন অন্য Person (He, him, his/she, her, hers/they, them, their/it, its) থাকলে Indirect Narration এ Reported Speech এর We পরিবর্তিত হয়ে They হবে। অর্থাত্ We এর যত নম্বর রূপ They এর তত নম্বর রূপ বসে।

Examples:

1. Direct   : Tuhin said to him, “We completed it.”

Indirect: Tuhin told him that they had completed it.
