Affirmative to negative

Rule 1:


Only āĻŦা alone āĻāĻ° āĻĒāĻ°িāĻŦāĻ°্āĻ¤ে āĻ‰āĻ¤্āĻ¤āĻ° āĻŦাāĻ•্āĻ¯েāĻ° āĻļুāĻ°ুāĻ¤ে None but āĻŦāĻ¸ে। āĻ†āĻ° āĻ•োāĻ¨ āĻĒāĻ°িāĻŦāĻ°্āĻ¤āĻ¨ āĻšā§ŸāĻ¨া।


Only Allah can save us.

Note: āĻŦāĻ¸্āĻ¤ুāĻ° āĻ•্āĻˇেāĻ¤্āĻ°ে only āĻāĻ° āĻĒāĻ°িāĻŦāĻ°্āĻ¤ে nothing but āĻŦāĻ¸ে। āĻ¤āĻŦে āĻŦā§ŸāĻ¸েāĻ° āĻ•্āĻˇেāĻ¤্āĻ°ে āĻŦা āĻ¸ংāĻ–্āĻ¯াāĻ° āĻ•্āĻˇেāĻ¤্āĻ°ে only āĻāĻ° āĻĒāĻ°িāĻŦāĻ°্āĻ¤ে not more than āĻŦāĻ¸ে।


Affirmative: He is only seven.

Negative: He is not more than seven.

Affirmative: We have only two cars.

Negative: We have not more than two cars.


Rule 2:


Affirmative sentence āĻ must āĻĨাāĻ•āĻ˛ে negative āĻ•āĻ°াāĻ° āĻ¸āĻŽā§Ÿ must āĻāĻ° āĻĒāĻ°িāĻŦāĻ°্āĻ¤ে can not but/ can not help āĻŦāĻ¸ে। āĻ¤āĻŦে can not help āĻāĻ° āĻĒāĻ°ে āĻ¯ে verb āĻĨাāĻ•ে āĻ¤াāĻ° āĻ¸াāĻĨে ing āĻ¯ুāĻ•্āĻ¤ āĻ•āĻ°āĻ¤ে āĻšā§Ÿ।


Affirmative: We must yield to your fate.

Negative: We can not but yield to your fate.

Affirmative: We must obey our parents.

Negative: We can not but obey our parents.

Affirmative: You must care them.

Negative: You can not help caring them.


Rule 3:


Every āĻ•ে Negative āĻ•āĻ°āĻ¤ে āĻšāĻ˛ে Every āĻāĻ° āĻĒāĻ°িāĻŦāĻ°্āĻ¤ে There is no āĻŦāĻ¸ে + every āĻāĻ° āĻĒāĻ°েāĻ° āĻļāĻŦ্āĻĻāĻŸি āĻŦāĻ¸ে + but + āĻĒ্āĻ°āĻĻāĻ¤্āĻ¤ sentence āĻāĻ° āĻŦাāĻ•ী āĻ…ংāĻļ।


Affirmative: Everyone hates a liar.

Negative: There is no one but hates a liar.

Affirmative: Everybody fears a lion.

Negative: There is nobody but fears a lion.


Rule 4:


As soon as āĻ¯ুāĻ•্āĻ¤ sentence āĻ•ে Negative āĻ•āĻ°āĻ¤ে āĻšāĻ˛ে-


As soon as āĻāĻ° āĻœাā§ŸāĻ—াā§Ÿ no sooner had āĻŦāĻ¸āĻŦে + āĻĒ্āĻ°āĻĻāĻ¤্āĻ¤ Sentence āĻāĻ° āĻ•āĻ°্āĻ¤া āĻŦāĻ¸ে + āĻ¸ে Sentence āĻāĻ° āĻŽূāĻ˛ verb āĻāĻ° past participle form āĻŦāĻ¸ে + āĻ¸ে sentence āĻŦাāĻ•ী āĻ…ংāĻļ āĻŦāĻ¸ে + than + āĻĻ্āĻŦিāĻ¤ীā§Ÿ āĻŦাāĻ•্āĻ¯ āĻŦāĻ¸ে।


Affirmative: As soon as he saw the ferocious wolf, he ran away.

Negative: No sooner had he seen the ferocious wolf than he ran away.

Negative: No sooner had the thief seen the police than he ran away.

Affirmative: As soon as the thief saw the police,  he ran away.


Rule 5:


Affirmative sentence āĻ•ে Negative āĻ•āĻ°াāĻ° āĻ¸āĻŽā§Ÿ āĻ‰āĻ•্āĻ¤ sentence āĻāĻ° Affirmative āĻļāĻŦ্āĻĻāĻŸিāĻ° Negative āĻ°ূāĻĒ āĻŦāĻ¸াāĻ¤ে āĻšā§Ÿ। āĻāĻŦং āĻ‰āĻ•্āĻ¤ Negative āĻāĻ° āĻĒূāĻ°্āĻŦে not āĻŦāĻ¸াāĻ¤ে āĻšā§Ÿ। āĻŦাāĻ•ী āĻ¸āĻŦ āĻ িāĻ• āĻĨাāĻ•ে।


Affirmative: He is an honest man.

Negative: He is not a dishonest man.

Affirmative: Sihab is a good boy.

Negative: Sihab is not a bad boy.

Affirmative: This is an extra-ordinary novel.

Negative: This is not an ordinary novel.


Rule 6:


Always āĻ¯ুāĻ•্āĻ¤ Affirmative sentence āĻ•ে Negative āĻ•āĻ°āĻ¤ে āĻšāĻ˛ে Always āĻāĻ° āĻĒāĻ°িāĻŦāĻ°্āĻ¤ে never āĻŦāĻ¸ে। Affirmative āĻļāĻŦ্āĻĻāĻŸিāĻ° Negative āĻ°ূāĻĒ āĻŦāĻ¸াāĻ¤ে āĻšā§Ÿ।


Affirmative: He was always punctual.

Negative: He was never late.

Affirmative: I always tell the truth.

Negative: I never tell a lie.


Rule 7:


Superlative degree āĻ¯ুāĻ•্āĻ¤ Affirmative sentence āĻ•ে Negative āĻ•āĻ°āĻ¤ে āĻšāĻ˛ে –


No other + superlative āĻāĻ° āĻĒāĻ°েāĻ° āĻ…ংāĻļ + verb + as + superlative degree āĻāĻ° positive form + as + āĻĒ্āĻ°āĻĻāĻ¤্āĻ¤ sentence āĻāĻ° subject.


Affirmative: He is the best boy in the class.

Negative: No other boy in the class is as good as he.

Affirmative: You are the best boy in the class.

Negative: No other boy in the class is as good as you.


Rule 8:


Than any other/than all other āĻ¯ুāĻ•্āĻ¤ comparative degree āĻ•ে Negative āĻ•āĻ°āĻ¤ে āĻšāĻ˛ে –


No other + any other/all other āĻāĻ° āĻĒāĻ°েāĻ° āĻ…ংāĻļ āĻŦāĻ¸ে + āĻĒ্āĻ°āĻĻāĻ¤্āĻ¤ verb + so/as āĻŦāĻ¸ে + comparative degree āĻāĻ° positive form + as + āĻĒ্āĻ°āĻĻāĻ¤্āĻ¤ sentence āĻāĻ° subject.


Affirmative: He is better than any other boy in the class.

Negative: No other boy in the class is as good as him.

Affirmative: Dhaka is bigger than all other cities in Bangladesh.

Negative: No other city in Bangladesh is as big as Dhaka.


Rule 9:


Than āĻ¯ুāĻ•্āĻ¤ comparative degree āĻ•ে Negative āĻ•āĻ°āĻ¤ে āĻšāĻ˛ে –


Than āĻāĻ° āĻļেāĻˇেāĻ° āĻ…ংāĻļ āĻĒ্āĻ°āĻĨāĻŽে āĻŦāĻ¸ে + verb (tense āĻ“ person āĻ…āĻ¨ুāĻ¯াā§Ÿী) + not + so/as + comparative degree āĻāĻ° positive form + as + āĻĒ্āĻ°āĻĻāĻ¤্āĻ¤ sentence āĻāĻ° subject.


Affirmative: He is stronger than you.

Negative: You are not as/so strong as him.

Affirmative: I am taller than you.

Negative: You are not as tall as me.


Rule 10:


As....as āĻ¯ুāĻ•্āĻ¤ positive degree āĻ•ে Negative āĻ•āĻ°āĻ¤ে āĻšāĻ˛ে –


āĻĒ্āĻ°āĻĨāĻŽ as āĻāĻ° āĻĒāĻ°িāĻŦāĻ°্āĻ¤ে not less āĻļেāĻˇ as āĻāĻ° āĻĒāĻ°িāĻŦāĻ°্āĻ¤ে than āĻŦāĻ¸ে।


Affirmative: Rahi and Rahat were as strong as Rubel.

Negative: Rahi and Rahat were not less strong than Rubel.

Affirmative: He is as good as you.

Negative: He is not less good than you.


Rule 11:


Less...than āĻ¯ুāĻ•্āĻ¤ sentence āĻ•ে Negative āĻ•āĻ°āĻ¤ে āĻšāĻ˛ে –


Less āĻāĻ° āĻœাā§ŸāĻ—াā§Ÿ not as āĻŦāĻ¸āĻŦে āĻāĻŦং than āĻāĻ° āĻœাā§ŸāĻ—াā§Ÿ as āĻŦāĻ¸āĻŦে।


Affirmative: He is less ugly than you said.

Negative: He is not as ugly as you said.

Affirmative: You are less good than he said.

Negative: You are not as good as he said.


Rule 12:


Too.....to āĻ¯ুāĻ•্āĻ¤ sentence āĻ•ে Negative āĻ•āĻ°āĻ¤ে āĻšāĻ˛ে –


Too āĻāĻ° āĻœাā§ŸāĻ—াā§Ÿ so āĻŦāĻ¸ে + Too āĻāĻ° āĻĒāĻ°েāĻ° adjective/adverb āĻŦāĻ¸ে + that āĻŦāĻ¸ে + āĻĒāĻ¨ুāĻ°াā§Ÿ subject āĻŦāĻ¸ে। + tense āĻ…āĻ¨ুāĻ¯াā§Ÿী can not/could not + āĻĒ্āĻ°āĻĻāĻ¤্āĻ¤ to āĻāĻ° āĻĒāĻ°েāĻ° āĻ…ংāĻļ āĻŦāĻ¸ে।


Affirmative: He is too weak to walk.

Negative: He is so weak that he can not walk.

Affirmative: The sum was too difficult for me to work out.

Negative: The sum was so difficult for me that I could not work out.

Affirmative: The luggage was too heavy to carry.

Negative: The luggage was so heavy that we could not carry it
