* As if/ as though/ as it were: āϝেāύ

1. She talks/ behaves/ speaks/ pretends/ acts as if/ as though/ as it were she (be) a mad/ insane/ a leader.
= were
2. She talks/ behaves/ speaks/ acts/ pretends as if/ as though she (know) everything.
= knew
3. She talked/ behaved/ spoke/ acted/ pretended as if/ as though she (be) a mad/ insane/ a leader.
= had been
4. She talked/ behaved/ spoke/ acted / pretended as if/ as though she (know) everything.
= had known
5. She proceeds as though/ as if she (see) me.
= didn't see/ saw
6. She proceeded as if/ as though she (see) me.
= hadn't seen

*It is time/ it is high time: āĻāĻ–āύāχ āωāĻĒāϝুāĻ•্āϤ āϏāĻŽāϝ়:
7. It is time/ It is high time we (go) to school.
= went
8. It was time/ It was high time we (go) to school.
= had gone
9. It is years/ It is many years/ It has been years/ it it is long since we (meet).
= meet
10. It was many years/ It was years / It was long since we (meet).
= had meet
11. Many years have passed since we (meet).

* Wish, would that, fancy, if.....

13. I wish I (be) a king.
= were
14. If I (be) a child again !
= were
15. (Be) I a child again !

18.Had I (be) the wings a bird!
= been

* No sooner had.......than, / scarcely had/ barely had/ rarely had/ hardly had.....when

21. No sooner had he reached the school than the (ring).
= rang
22. Hardly had I done my exercise when Tutul (come) to see me.
= came
23. Barely had/ scarcely had/ rarely had the assembly begun when the students (stand) in lines.
= stood
24. Scarcely had Deepika Padukone reached the stage when the audience (start) screaming.

*No sooner have.....

25. No sooner have my father (offer) me a gift than I thank him.
= offered
26. No sooner have my father entered than I (give) salam to him.
= give

* As soon as....

27. As soon as we (go) out, it started raining.
= went
28. As soon as my father enters into the house, I (give) salam to him.
= give

* Before/after......
29. The patient (die) before the doctor (come).
= had died, came
30. The patient (die) after the doctor (come).
= died, had come

*Lest......
31. Hurry up/ walk hurriedly/ run fast lest you (miss) the bus.
= should miss/ might miss

*Be used to, get used to, be accustomed to + V1 +ing
32. He is used to (ride) a bicycle.
= riding
34. I am accustomed to (have) tea.
= having

*Stop, keep, start, mind, would you mind, begin, finish, deny, suggest, consider, admit, by, without, in, from, of,  remember, enjoy, detest, love, dislike, hate, like, practise, see, give up, feel like, be worth, can't help, Look forward to/with a view to-- these common verbs usually followed by gerund ( V1 +ing):

34.  look forward to / with a view to (meet) him.
= meeting
35. Stop (talk)
= talking
36. She feels like (have) a cup of coffee.
= having
37. Would you mind (go) out with me?
= going
38. I can't help (help) the poor.
= helping

Conditional sentences:

*If + simple present + future ( Sub+ will/may/ can + V1 + extension:
39. If you work hard, you (prosper/succeed) in life.
= will prosper/ will succeed

*If +simple past + Sub+ would/ could/might + V1 + extension:
40. If you worked hard, you (prosper/ succeed) in life.
= would prosper/ would succeed
41. If I were you, I (do) the work.
= I would do
42. If I had time, I (go) shopping with you.
= would go

*If + past perfect + sub + would have/ coluld have/ might have +V3 + extension
43. If you had done the work timely, you ( succeed) in life.
= would have succeeded

*too.......to (Sub + verb to be + too +  adjective + to + v1
44. He is too tired to walk.
45. He was too tired to walk.

*sub+ verb to be + so + adjective + that + sub + can't/ couldn't + V1
46. He is so tired that he can't walk.
47. He was so tired that he couldn't walk.

*Uses of enough
48. He is not old enough to walk yet.
49. Your marks are good enough to study engineering at University.
50. He is not tall enough to reach the top of the shelf.

*Uses of 'so that'/ ' in order that'
51. He works hard so that he can prosper in life.
52. He worked hard so that he could prosper in life.
53. I study my lessons very hard in order that I can pass in the exam.
* Provided that/ providing that/ if  āϝāĻĻি
54. I will go provided that she comes.
55. You can drive a car providing  that you have a a valid license.
56. Provided that you have the money in your account, you can withdraw.

*Uses of 'let alone'......
56. He can't ride a bicycle, let alone a bike.
57. We can't afford even an electric fan, let alone air conditioner.
58. She was too tired to walk, let alone run.

*Uses of 'not only but also'....
59. Suchi is not only a brilliant student but also a singer.
60. Kazi Nazrul Islam was not only a famous poet but also a musician.

*Would rather....than + V1, / had better + V1
61. I would rather die than beg.
62. You had better go now.

*What's it like + V1 + ing.....
63. What's it like having a cup of coffee?
64. What's it like eating a pizza?

*What if/What though āĻ•ী āĻšāϤো āϝāĻĻি
65. What if snakes bit her?
66. What though you fail in the exam?
67. What if it rains while we are traveling?

*Be supposed to + V1+ extension
68. You were supposed to come here on time.
69. I was supposed to go to Sirajganj today.

* Positive, Comparative, Superlative......
70. He is the best boy in our class. ( Make positive and comparative)
= No other boy in our class is as good as he.
= He is better than any other boy/ all other boys in our class.

* One of the
71. He is one of the best boys in our class. ( Make positive and Comparative)
= Very few boys in our class are as good as he.
= He is better than most other boys in our class.

* Compare with two people or two things
72. Diamond is more precious than gold. (Positive)
= Gold is not as precious as diamond.
73. He is not as tall as I (Comparative)
= I am taller than he.

*Uses of 'neither.......nor'....either...or'

74. Either……or, Neither…..nor āĻĻ্āĻŦাāϰা āĻŦাāĻ•্āϝে āĻĻুāϟি subject āĻ•ে āϝুāĻ•্āϤ āĻ•āϰāϞে or āĻāĻŦং nor āĻāϰ āĻĒāϰেāϰ subject āĻ…āύুāϏাāϰে verb āĻšā§Ÿ। āĻ…āϰ্āĻĨাā§Ž āύিāϚেāϰ āϏ্āϟ্āϰাāĻ•āϚাāϰ āĻ…āύুāϝা⧟ী āĻšā§Ÿ-

either/neither + noun + or/nor + plural noun + plural verb…
either/neither + noun + or/nor + singular noun + singular verb..
Either Rahi or his brothers were  present.
Either Rahim or Karim was present.
Neither Suchi nor her brothers were present.
Neither Faisal nor his brother was present.

75. As well as, including, together with, except, in addition to, no less than, accompanied by, along with āχāϤ্āϝাāĻĻি āĻļāĻŦ্āĻĻāĻ—ুāϞো āĻŦাāĻ•্āϝে āĻĻুāϟি subject āĻ•ে āϝুāĻ•্āϤ āĻ•āϰāϞে āĻĒ্āϰāĻĨāĻŽ subject āĻ…āύুāϏাāϰে verb āĻšā§Ÿ।

Rahi as well as his friends has gone to see his ailing mother.
I along with some of my friends was present.

76. One of āĻāϰ āĻĒāϰে noun āϟি plural āĻšāϞেāĻ“ verb singular āĻšā§Ÿ।

One of the boys is absent.

77. And āĻĻ্āĻŦাāϰা āϝুāĻ•্āϤ subject āĻ—ুāϞোāϰ āĻĒুāϰ্āĻŦে each, every, no āχāϤ্āϝাāĻĻি āĻĨাāĻ•āϞে verb āϏāϰ্āĻŦāĻĻা singular āĻšā§Ÿ।

Each boy and each girl was/is active.

78. The Headmaster and the chairman of the committee were present.
79. The Headmaster and Chairman of the committee was present.
80. Many a man was present.
81. A number of ( a lot of / many) students were present.
82. The number of crimes has increased this year.
83. feel/ suppose/ imagine/ discover/ know/ judge/ assume + to be + adjective.

We assumed him to be innocent.
He was judged to be guilty.

84. …….as long as + simple present tense (meaningful sentence).

Examples:
Wait here as long as it rains.
Allah will help us as long as our aim is honest.

85. till/until āϝে āĻĒāϰ্āϝāύ্āϤ āύা + (meaningful affirmative sentencebof simple present tense).

Examples:

Wait until I come back.

Mother will be nursing him till he comes round.

85: …….in case āϝāĻĻি + (meaningful sentence of simple present tense).

Examples:

I will come tomorrow in case he wants me.

I want to stay home in case he comes.

86.……the place + where +(meaningful affirmative sentence).

Examples:

Sirajganj is the place where I was born.

A railway station is a place where trains stop.

Paris is the city where UNESCO headquarter is.

87. ……the time/year/day + when + (meaningful affirmative sentence).

Examples:

Saturday is the day when the week begins.

1971 is the year when Bangladesh became independent.

11 P. M. is the time when I go to bed.

88. If there are "have, has, had, shall have, will have, would have, could have, may have, might have, having, get, is to be, are to be, be with modal verbs (like can be, should be....) in the active sentence then there will be "V3" ( past participle of the main verb).

88. It is no use of memorising the answers for the exams.

89. This is the pen which I want.

90. Do you know where he lives in?

92. Would you please tell me how to get to the hospital?

93. Unless you work hard, you won't prosper in life.

94. It is time for them to start the work.

*Though/ although āϝāĻĻিāĻ“

95. Although/ though  he is poor, he is honest.

*In spite of/ despite/ Notwithstanding/ Nevertheless/ Nonetheles āϏāϤ্āϤেāĻ“

96. In spite of his poverty he is happy./ In spite of being poor he is happy. / Despite his poverty he is happy.

*Even though āĻāĻŽāύāĻ•ি

97. The phone woke me up, even though it wasn't very loud.

*because of/ on account of/ due to/ owing to āĻ•াāϰāĻŖে

98. He couldn't go to college because of/ on account of/ due to/ owing to his illness.

99. This is the girl whom I like most./ It is you who have done the work.

100. Present/Future Indefinite Tense + when/after + present perfect.

Examples:
*You can go to sleep when you have taken your dinner.

In case of expressing sin, guilt
I, he and you are guilty.

*You will return me the book after you have finished reading it.
