Interjection / exclamation
Interjection - An interjection is a word that shows strong emotion. Such examples are Wow!, Ouch!, Hurray!, and Oh no!. Interjections can really liven up a sentence. They help to add voice to your writing.
Some interjections or exclamation words we should know for better English.
1. Quick! Hide behind the curtain
2. Hi, hi! That was a good joke
3. Silence! The king is going to speak
4. Sorry! I am late
5. Hush! Speak softly or you will wake the baby.
6. Tut-tut! Did you break that saucer?( used to express disapproval or annoyance.
"tut-tut, Ruhi, you disappoint me")
7. Oh dear! You should not have that.
8. Good Heavens! Have you spent all your pocket money? (used informally to express surprise, anger, etc. Good heavens! You startled me)
9. Hurrah! We have won the match.
10. Bravo! You have stood first again.
11. Alas! His father died yesterday.
12. Fie! What a shame.
13. Oh! You have done same mistake again.
14. Ah! What a pity!
15. Wow! How enormous the elephant is!
16. Help! Help! A ferocious snake is coming to me.
17. Oops! I've typed two L's by mistake. Oops, I've spelt that wrong. ( Used to express mild mistake)
18. Ouch, you're hurting me! (used to express sudden physical pain:)
