Uses of "Had better and Would rather'

⭐⭐ Had better ও Would rather এর ব্যবহার:

Just learn the uses:

📘Had better সাধারনত কোন উপদেশ প্রদান করতে ব্যবহৃত হয়, আমরা যেমনটা should ব্যবহার করি। এক্ষেত্রে than বসেনা‌। The meaning of had better is similar to should. Had better expresses advice and warning. You had better watch your steps. She had better listen to you.

⭐Had Better for specific advice

Had better is used to give advice about specific things (use should for general advice). It is followed by the infinitive without to.

1) We'd better take something to eat or we will be hungry later.

2) It's getting late. You'd better leave now or you will miss your bus.

3) I'd better go to bed, I have to be up early tomorrow.

⭐Had better for hope and warning

⭐Had better can also be used to express a hope or a warming.

1) You'd better shut up! (warning)

2) My team had better win tonight. (hope)

 Or with negative results

When the advice is strong, use had better with or to show the negative result of not following your advice.

1) You'd better take an umbrella or you will get wet.

2) He'd better remember to wear a neck-tie or they won't let him in the restaurant.

3) I think I had better take them or they will get lost.

📘Would rather

অপরপক্ষে would rather দুটোর মধ্যে একটি বেশি পছন্দ preference এর ক্ষেত্রে ব্যবহৃত হয়। এক্ষেত্রে than বসে‌।

For example: 

1. I would rather stay home than go out tonight. 

2. She would rather die than beg. 

3. Sneha would rather write than read.

4. They would rather drink tea than cola.

Affirmative full form

Subject + “would rather” + base form + “than” + base form

1) I would rather walk than run.
